Allergy Facts

According to the AAAAI, missed work days because of allergies cost U.S. companies more than $250 million a year.

Frequently called hay fever, seasonal allergic rhinitis affects 35 million people in the United States.

Allergies can develop at any age.

Asthma is especially prevalent in children. Five million children have asthma, or about 11% of children.

Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism and pediatric hospital admission. There are about 10 million missed school days every year due to asthma.

Your risk of developing allergies is related to your parents allergy history.

About 5,600 people die every year as a result of asthma.

Asthma has developed in the human race in just the last 100 years, and is still a rarity in many developing countries (where indoor air quality is not yet a major health problem).

In North America, other weeds can trigger allergic rhinitis symptoms. These weeds include sagebrush, pigweed, tumbleweed, Russian thistle and cockleweed.

Featured Air Purifier: The Surround Air Multi-Tech has a HEPA filter, which is 99.97% effective at removing particles such as allergens.
